Q: When are your deadlines?
A: All news and already-designed advertisements must be submitted by noon on Monday before the press run date. If we must build the advertisement, the information must be to us by noon on Monday, (Friday by 2 p.m. if preferable).
Q: Why did you change the press release/news item I submitted to The Record?
A: Everything submitted is subject to the normal editing process before publication. Sometimes the changes are according to a certain style all newspapers use. Other changes could be made to give more attention to the local aspects of a story. If your news item was printed inaccurately, please contact us.
Q: Is there a charge to print obituaries, birth announcements, engagements or wedding announcements?
A: No. All of those announcements are free. However, we do charge for announcements in advertisement form. Contact us for more details.
Q: I held a newsworthy event last week. Why wasn’t it in the paper?
A: Simply put, we don’t know everything. It is best to let us know well in advance if you are planning an event of public interest. We will do our best to meet your needs. Also, part of our job is to judge the importance of each news item. A newspaper only has so much room. Naturally, some things will be left out each week.
Q: How much does it cost to place an advertisement with The Record?
A: Advertisements are priced according to their size and color. Classified advertisements are $4 for 20 words or less and 5 cents for each additional word. The classified ad will appear in The Record's Weekly Edition. For an additional $3 you can have it on The Record's website. A card of thanks is $3 per column inch for black and white, and $4 for color . We can also fit the budget of any business with our display advertisements. Visit or call The Record for a list of a display advertisement prices.
Q: Does The Record accept credit cards?
A: Not at this time. We accept cash or personal checks.
Q: Why isn’t everything that the newspaper contains on the website?
A: We are able to serve the community based on the advertising and subscription revenue we generate. If we were to make the website and newspaper identical, we feel our subscription demand would decline. That decline could have a impact on the quality of your newspaper.
Q: Does The Record offer gift subscriptions?
A: Yes. Contact us for more information.
