Janice R. McManus, 53

Janice R. McManus, 53, of Beaman, entered into eternal life on Friday, July 23, 2010.

A celebration of her life will be held in the Beaman Memorial Hall on July 31 at 1 p.m. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be sent to the Iowa Donor Network.

Janice was born on Dec. 4, 1956, to Raymond and Wyonne (Perry) Damman in Newton. She was a sales associate at Kmart and Kwik Star. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Janice will be dearly missed by her children Stephanie (Jerry) Tupper, John Michael McManus and Jeremy (Theresa) McManus; her grandchildren: Jade, Nasaria, Ariana and Jeremy Jr.; her sisters: Chila (Larry) Karas, Marcy (John) Phipps, Sharon Wilson and Annie (Doug) Jones.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, Elmer and Della Perry, and Fred and Mabel Damman.

Clarence L. Grove, 99

Clarence L. Grove, 99, of Conrad, died Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at the Grandview Heights in Marshalltown.

Funeral services were held July 24, at the Conrad United Methodist Church with Rev. Jennifer Daniel officiating. He was laid to rest in the Green Mountain Cemetery. Visitation July 23 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to the Conrad United Methodist Church or Iowa River Hospice. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Clarence and his family.

Born on Nov. 14, 1910, north of Marshalltown in Liscomb Township, he was one of seven children born to Harry and Ida Della (Naumann) Grove. He received his education in the rural schools.

On Feb. 2, 1936, he was united in marriage to Mabel Wetherbee at her parent’s home. Clarence was employed at Ashton’s Ford Garage, did farming with T.J. Southard and then the couple farmed near Green Mountain and Dillon. They retired to Conrad after building their home in 1976.

He was a member of the Conrad United Methodist Church, the Conrad Lion’s Club Farm Bureau, former LeGrand School Board member and enjoyed playing and fixing fiddles, music sessions at Beaman and near Albion, wood-working, fixing tractors and inventing things. He treasured his family and loved music.

Left to cherish his memory are his four children: Mary Ann (Garry) Hall of Marshalltown, Charles (Bev) Grove of Marshalltown, Robert (Pat) Grove of Marshalltown and Betty (Dennis) Nuese of Dillon, 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In death, Clarence rejoined his beloved Mabel who died in 1999, great-grandson Matt, his parents, brothers Harry and William and sisters Estella Edgar, Pearl Hilsabeck, Sue Barnes and Doris Richards.

Margaret A. Jackly, 74

Margaret “Peg” Jackley, 74, of Beaman, died Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at the Iowa River Hospice House.

Funeral services were held July 24, at St. Henry Catholic Church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Visitation was held July 23 at St. Henry. A vigil service followed the visitation. Memorials may be directed to Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown.

Margaret Ann Jackley was born on Jan. 31, 1936, at Sibley Hospital in Sibley. She was the daughter of Leo Anthony Seivert and Marjorie Alice (Groen) Seivert. She received her education in Ashton, graduating from St. Mary’s High School in Ashton, in 1954. Peg married Mervin Francis Jackley on May, 31, 1955, in Ashton. Mervin died in 1969. She then married William Alexander, who passed in 2001. She had resided in Ashton and then moved to Conrad, and later moved to a farm in between Beaman and Conrad, where she had resided until her death. She was member of the Beaman Auxiliary and Village and Vale, and enjoyed gardening and bird watching.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Patricia Jackley of Dallas, Texas; David (Beth) Jackley of Beaman and their children Whitney, Logan and Clark; Dennis Jackley and his daughter Bethanie; and Michael Jackley Sr.’s children Jasmine and Michael Jr.; along with Peg’s siblings: Marilyn Seivert, Norma Seivert and Daniel Seivert.

She was preceded in death by her husbands Mervin and William; her son Michael Jackley Sr.; and her siblings John Seivert and infant brother Joseph Seivert.
