Auxiliary Sewing Day planned

The Conrad American Legion Auxiliary’s sewing day will be on July 8 at the Legion Hall.

DUI Course is July 11-12

Iowa Valley Continuing Education will offer the course 
Driving Unimpaired July 11-12. The course is required for anyone convicted of driving under the influence, and 
is authorized by the State of Iowa. The 12-hour class will be held at IVCE, 3702 South Center,
Marshalltown, on July 11 from 6-10 p.m., and July 12, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call 800-284-4823, ext. 5606.

Flip Flops, Faith and Friends

On July 9, you are invited for a evening of food and fellowship at Jeanne Ehn’s home at 142 Dusenberg Drive in Conrad, from 6-8 p.m. Rides and childcare will be available. RSVP by calling 366-2914 and those attending are reminded to bring a lawn chair.

Marshall County immunization clinic

The MMSC Home Care Plus immunization clinic will be held on July 17, 2008, from 12 to 3:40 p.m., at the WIC offices, 102 North 1st Street. A record of previous immunizations is needed for those attending the clinic. Children must be accompanied by a parent or have written permission. There is no charge. Walk-ins will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Call 754-6353 for an appointment or for more information.

Extension office to be closed

The Grundy County Extension Office will be closed on July 4 for the holiday.

Relay For Life joins Family Fun Night

The American Cancer Society 2008 Relay for Life will join with Family Fun Night at the Grundy County Fair on July 23. Activities will include the Survivor’s Lap and Luminaria display. Details will be announced soon.

Grant money received locally

Wolf Creek Child Care and Preschool recently received funds from the William Alexander Grant. The Grant was requested for two areas of need within the facility. The funds were used to purchase needed equipment for the Outdoor Learning Environment which the public is encouraged to stop by and see. Wolf Creek Child Care and Preschool was also awarded grant money to help continue our Scholarship Program. This program provides tuition assistance for families who qualify during the 2008-09 school year.
