BCLUW cross country coach Donna Fiscus announced recently that the annual pre-season cross country camp for BCLUW high school students will be held Aug. 5-6. With the theme Survival of the F.I.T. (focus, inner strength and trust), the group will walk to Union from Conrad on Aug. 5, carrying their sleeping bags and supplies. Along the way, the cross country members will compete in various challenges to “earn” their food and water. Staples will include things like nuts, fruit and berries, peanut butter and jelly, etc. This year’s service project will be to raise money for a new flagpole to replace the old one at the BCLUW football field and track and dedicating it to the veterans of the area during the Homecoming game. Donations of any size can be sent to Donna Fiscus at 2464 130th St., Marshalltown, IA 50158.
